Heal -  to make healthy, whole

Health is our body´s natural state. That is why it is so easily taken for granted and

why we tend to only notice when things are not working, when we are in a state of dis-ease. Luckily our body have a miraculous ability to heal and bring itself back into balance.

What foods we eat is an essential key, but in order to establish and maintain true well-being, we also need to pay attention to some of the other fundamental principles of healthy living.

Pure Air

We can survive for weeks without food, for days without water, but only minutes or even seconds without air. The quality of the air we breathe greatly affects our vitality. Be sure to spend enough time outside in nature, visit nearby forests and parks.

Clean Water

In the same way that we understand the importance of water to clean our outer body we need to recognize that the inner body requires the same attention. When we make sure to keep hydrated at all times, we create a good inner hygiene and aid our bodies in keeping clean. Find a clean water source and make a habit of drinking sufficiently, especially upon wakening, but even throughout the day.

Sunlight

Sunlight is fundamental for all life, without it we wither. We all recognize the glow of a healthy tan. Make sure you spend some time in the sunlight every day. Every part of our body benefits from these warm rays of life-force.

Wonder

Stay in touch with your childlike sense of wonder about the world. Rest in the knowing that there is so much still unrevealed to you and that life is an ongoing exploration. When things do not seem to be going the way you intended, put yourself if only for a moment in a space of wonder where you are open to the countless new opportunities that may arise from this sudden change in direction.

Gratitude

Our heart deeply resonates and stabilizes its rhythm when we are in a state of gratitude. Find things to be grateful for, even when life is offering you challenges, it might just be the birth of something new. How about spending a few minutes every morning or before falling asleep giving thanks? Write down what you appreciate in life, in yourself or in another. This is an exercise that will transform your life.

Nature and Animals
Spending time in nature has a profoundly calming effect on our body and mind. Form a new habit of going out for a walk every day, find a special place in the forest, or by the sea where you can sit and quietly just be. Rest in that state that nature provides where there are no expectations, no need for things to be different than they are, and where time and troubles seem to drift away. When you create that silent space for yourself you will start finding it easier to stay
calm and centered in stressful situations and you will get better at reading your body's signals and recognize when you need a break.
Spending time with animals also has a positive effect on your health. Animals teach us how to live in the moment, enjoy life and they gift us with their unconditional love and tremendous ability to forgive.

Movement and Play

Our bodies are made to move and thrives best when we put this principle into action. When we feel energetic we automatically want to express it through our bodies. Find a way that is fun to you and celebrate your bodies amazing capacities on a daily basis. Run, dance, play! The rewards come quickly and are immeasurable.

Rest and Sleep
My grandma always said that bed is the best medicine and I could not agree more. This is crucial. Nighttime is when we recharge our batteries and the body is given the opportunity to
rest and heal. Gift yourself with early nights and you will excel your healing process and awaken renewed.

Smiles and Laughter

Laughter is the medicine of the soul and offers us the chance to not take things too seriously. We are all students in life, we have our oddities and we make mistakes as a part of our life experience. If we can have a sense of humor about it we can take one step back and embrace the full spectrum of who we are at this moment in our journey.

Forgiveness
There is tremendous healing power in letting go. When we forgive ourselves and others for what happened in the past, we can
free ourselves and start creating a different reality. There is no need for you to suffer now for what has already been done. If you have many mistakes behind you, that means you have been courageous and tried new things. We are constantly learning and evolving. When a child finally learns to walk, he does not regret all the times I tried and fell.

Magic and Surprise
We tend to think that we like to be in control at all times, that as long as life is happening in accordance to our plan, we are content. But there is also a part in us that loves the surrender that is evoked when life hands us a
surprise and things get stirred up a bit. We enjoy the presence of magic in our lives and the knowing that one event can change the direction of the entire journey. By paying attention to the little miracles and embracing their presence, you can revive the magic in your life. A fun way of doing this is to create magic in the lives which you touch, it could be slipping an anonymous note in a strangers mailbox, leaving a flower on someones bike, or any creative idea that comes to you.

Doing what you love and loving what you do

Start acknowledging to yourself what really excites you. Joy is the language of your soul, it is its way of letting you know that you are on the path to fulfill your innermost desire and purpose. Once we have been honest with ourselves about what makes our heart sing, we can start being honest to others about who we really are. When we do that, our path starts to be laid out for us in inconceivable ways. Start doing more of what you love every day, even if you can not see how, when you keep at it, it will eventually become the main drive in your life. And in the meantime, start putting love into what you do, no matter what it might be, celebrate and trust that you are now moving in a new direction.

Relationships, Intimacy and Connectedness
Everything in life is interconnected
and there is no way that you can disconnect yourself from it, yet it is possible to have an experience of being disconnected. Since connectedness is the underlying truth of our being, feeling separate may be one of the most difficult and painful experiences of life. However we are constantly offered opportunities to  reconnect.
Relationships ask us to do just that, they act as mirrors in our lives, they are invitations for us to experience all the different aspects of ourselves, the innumerable fragrances of who we are. Some of those aspects we love to identify with, others might frighten us, at times to the point where we would rather keep them out of sight. That is often when it feels more comfortable to withdraw, yet a part of us longs to be in intimacy and yearns for someone else to know and acknowledge every part of who we really are.

Learn to embrace the parts of yourself that you wish were different. Know that they are only a step in the forever changing process of your being and not the full truth of who you are. If we can in that same way witness another, even the parts we call dark, without judgement and without withdrawing our hearts openness, we free ourselves from passing the same judgement onto ourselves, it makes a full circle. This is a chance to maintain intimacy and connectedness in the midst of whatever might surface and to see the darkness as a well in which, if you dive deep enough, you will discover the clearest water of your true interconnected being.

Creativity
We all inhabit a creative potential and when we nourish it we come
alive. In what ways do you express your inner creativity? It can take on any form. Find out what feels most joyous to you. It could be painting, drawing, singing, writing, dancing, gardening, photographing or creating a new recipe with your favorite fruits. You might reveal an unique way of expressing your own inner life and connect more deeply with your intuition and get a glimpse of a hidden world within you.

A Sense of Meaning and Purpose
To inhabit your life with purpose and meaning is an incredible
gift which you are free to give yourself at any moment of your life. This does not necessarily have to imply that you have a plan or always know what you will do in the future. It simply means that you can decide to bring meaning into whatever occupies you at the moment. You might discover a transformation in your experience of life as you start shifting you attention from 'What can I get', to' What can I bring', to this person, this relationship, this job, this moment. When you approach life in this way

you liberate yourself from the a sense of victimhood, as you claim your inborn ability to create happiness and abundance in your life by being the source from which it springs. It is a practice which works in all situations and relationships you find yourself in and will unmistakably open up new doors for you.
